Membership types

Polish Society for Neuroscience allows five types of membership:

A person who want to became a regular member of the Society must have a higher education qualification and documented scientific achievements in neuroscience or related sciences.


Rights of a regular member of Polish Neuroscience Society:
  • Active and passive election rights to the Execitive Committee.
  • Participation in the general assemblies of Society, scientific meetings and schools organized by the PNS.
  • Participation in the executive committees established by PNS.
  • Rights for the benefits provided by PNS and exploitation of the PNS facilities.

Duties of a regular Polish Neuroscience Society member:
  • Active participation in the implementation of statutory objectives of PNS.
  • Compliance with the statutory, regulations.
  • Compliance with professional ethics guidelines
  • Regular payment of membership fees.

Termination of membership:
  • Resignation from membership submitted to the Executive Committe.
  • Member can be expelled by the Executive Committee for the infringement of the statutory regulations and principles of the Society or due to the loss of civil rights by a final court order.
  • Regular membership can be suspended if member fails to contribute a membership fee for a period of one year, despite the two reminder notices.
  • Restoration of the membership is possible upon a payment of overdue membership fees.
  • If regular member fails to contribute a membership fee for a period of three years, despite the two reminder notices, she/he is excluded from the Society.
  • A member may appeal against the decision of the Executive Committee to the General Assembly within three months.

Graduate (PhD) students are eligible. PhD student members pay half the membership fee and have partial voting rights.


Privileges of a PhD student member of the Polish Neuroscience Society:
  • Participation in the general assemblies of Society with active voting rights.
  • Participation in scientific meetings and schools organized by the PNS.
  • Benefit from the scholarship programs offered by PNS/FENS/IBRO.
  • Entitled to the benefits provided by PNS and use of PNS facilities.

Duties of a PhD student member of the Polish Neuroscience Society:
  • Active participation in PNS activities.
  • Compliance with the statutory, regulations.
  • Compliance with professional ethics guidelines.

Termination of membership:
  • PhD student membership expires automatically two calendar years after graduation. You should then submit a new declaration, applying for regular membership.
  • Resignation from membership submitted to the Society Board.
  • A member may be expelled by the Board for the infringement of the statutory regulations and principles of the Society or due to the loss of civil rights by a binding court order.
  • A member may appeal against the decision of the Board to the General Assembly within three months.

Undergraduate students are eligible. Student members have limited voting rights and are not required to pay membership dues.


Rights of a student member of Polish Neuroscience Society:
  • Participation in the general assemblies of Society in an advisory capacity.
  • Participation in scientific meetings and schools organized by the PNS.
  • Benefit from the scholarship programs offered by PNS/FENS/IBRO.
  • Rights for the benefits provided by PNS and exploitation of the PNS facilities.

Duties of a student member of the Polish Neuroscience Society:

A supporting member may be a legal person, a company or institution expressing willingness to financially support the activities of the Society.


Rights of a supportive member of Polish Neuroscience Society:
  • Participation in the general assemblies of Society in an advisory capacity.
  • Participation in scientific meetings and schools organized by the PNS.
  • Participation in the executive committees established by PNS.
  • Rights for the benefits provided by PNS and exploitation of the PNS facilities.
  • Other rights and obligations are defined by the individual contracts between PNS and Supportive Member representative.

Duties of a supportive member of Polish Neuroscience Society:
  • Active participation in the implementation of statutory objectives of PNS.
  • Compliance with the statutory, regulations.
  • Compliance with professional ethics guidelines.
  • Regular payment of declared membership contribution.

Termination of membership:
  • Resignation from membership submitted to the Society Board.
  • Member can be expelled by the Board for the infringement of the statutory regulations and principles of the Society.
  • The agreement can be terminated by PNS due to violation of the terms and conditions of the agreement.

A honorary member can be bestow on a person of particular merits for neurobiology or Society. Honorary membership is given by the General Society Assembly, at the request of the Executive Committee. Candidates for honorary membership can be proposed by a regular members of the Polish Neuroscience Society. Being a honorary member you are not required to contribute the membership fee!

  • Participation in the executive committees established by PNS.
  • Rights for the benefits provided by PNS and exploitation of the PNS facilities.

Duties of a regular Polish Neuroscience Society member:
