The Konorski Award ceremony

On July 3, 2026, during a meeting of the Committee of Neurobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), the ceremonial presentation of the Jerzy Konorski Award for the best Polish original publication in the field of neurobiology published in 2025 took place. The award is granted by the Polish Neuroscience Society (PTBUN) in cooperation with the Committee of Neurobiology of the PAN.

Funding for the award was made possible through the cooperation of PTBUN with the Employers’ Union of Innovative Pharmaceutical Companies INFARMA, which sponsored the financial prize.

This year, the Jerzy Konorski Award was presented to the authors of the publication:

“Unattended working memory items are coded by persistent activity in human medial temporal lobe neurons” Paluch K, Magnuski M, Średniawa W, Ivanovski D, Rysz A, Służewska-Niedźwiedź M, Pasterski T, Fortuna W, Smarzewska K, Reinacher PC, Kaczor S, Tabakow P, Babu H, Kamiński J. Furthermore, the Award Committee decided to grant an honorable mention to the authors of the publication:

“Φ value analysis underscores strong functional and structural compactness of the GABAA receptor” Michałowski MA, Terejko K, Gos M, Iżykowska I, Czyżewska MM, Kłopotowski K, Kaczor PT, Brzóstowicz A, Płużek E, Migdałek M, Mozrzymas JW. During the meeting, participants also had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by Dr. Jan Kamiński, who led the team whose publication was honored with the Jerzy Konorski Award. A lecture dedicated to the work that received the honorable mention will be delivered during the next meeting of the Committee of Neurobiology of the PAN.
